Matt Pelfrey is a film, theatre and television writer. He is the Program Director for Point Park's M.F.A. in Writing for Screen and Stage, located in Pittsburgh.
He worked as a staff writer on the MTV one-hour drama SKINS and wrote, produced, and directed webisodes and content for the SKINS/MTV website. He was recently a story editor and writer for the teen-drama TURNT, which premiered on FACEBOOK WATCH in 2017. He has developed television projects with HazyMills and Grady Twins and pitched projects to most major TV networks. His screenplay, HARVEST CREEK, was purchased by Chinese Filmmaker Dayyan Eng and is looking to start production in 2022.

His screenplay SURVIVALISM was included on the 2011 Blood List, an industry-generated list of the favorite unproduced horror and thriller scripts in Hollywood. Matt developed his play, THE ALLIGATOR GOSPELS, at the 2020 Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. Matt's other full-length plays have been produced to critical acclaim, and include  AN IMPENDING RUPTURE OF THE BELLY, PURE SHOCK VALUE, FREAK STORM, NOgoodDEED, COCKROACH NATION, TERMINUS AMERICANA, and the stage adaption of IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, THE PILO FAMILY CIRCUS, WINKIE, and THE BASKETBALL DIARIES. These plays were produced by vibrant and exciting theatre companies such as Artists Rep (Portland, OR), Furious Theatre (L.A.), Moving Arts (L.A.), The Shattered Globe (Chicago), Lodestone (L.A.), Killing My Lobster (S.F.), 59E59 (N.Y.C.), Godlight Theatre (N.Y.C.), and the Actors Theatre of Louisville (K.Y.) His plays are available from Broadway Play Publishing, Samuel French, and Original Works Publishing.

​He is the winner of the Actor's Theater of Louisville's Heidman Award (National 10-Minute Play Award), a Backstage Garland Award for playwriting, and was nominated for an LA WEEKLY playwriting award and a Los Angeles Ovation Award. He received his B.A. in Creative Writing from San Francisco State and his Master in Fine Arts in Playwriting from U.C.L.A.
